Why we share our horses with you

An alternative to purchasing

We understand that purchasing a horse is a big decision requiring a significant time & financial commitment. We offer a wonderful selection of horses/ponies for lease, as an alternative or step towards horse ownership. There is no actual "lease fee" for most of our lease options, however lessors are required to cover their horse's expenses, and participate in our lesson program. We offer both half leases and full leases depending on availability. We look forward to matching riders with the perfect partner!

Frequently Asked Questions

Who owns the lease horses?

We have an incredible selection of show quality horses and ponies in our lease program. Some belong to other students in the barn who would like to share their mounts to help with time/finances while they are attending University, or working a busy job. Some have been generously donated to our program, and some are owned directly by Equi-Life.

Why do you not have school horses?

Horses are expensive to keep, and the business model required for school horses requires them to work multiple lessons per day. Horses work hard to please us, and take pride in their work too. It is important to us that our horses get to bond and train regularly with one or two riders at a time. This certainly keeps them focused, happy, and feeling successful.

How long is the lease commitment?

We will discuss your goals at the start of your partnership with your new lease horse, as well as an expected timeline for the partnership. If either party would like to end the lease, they would be required to give 30 days notice on the first of the month.

Can we compete with lease horses?

Certainly! We encourage all of our riders, at all levels to set goals and get in the competition ring with their horses. Of course those who share a horse will have to work out a show calendar that works for everyone.

What if I outgrow my lease horse?

We have a variety of horses to offer as stepping stones from the safe, beginner school mount, to horses that can get you ready to show at the National level. For the best interest of the horses, they each have a special level that they perform best at.

When will I be ready to own a horse?

We offer our lease program as a transition from beginner lessons to horse ownership, to give people the opportunity to wait until they feel ready to make the time and financial commitment to owning a horse!
